Fabio Barsotti becomes new Managing Director of the Nardò Technical CenterNew head at the proving and testing ground in south Italy

Stuttgart/Nardò. Change in management at the location in Nardò: starting on June 19, Fabio Barsotti takes over the management of the Nardò Technical Center in Apulia (Italy). Since 1975, the proving ground is meeting the development demands of the automotive industry and since 2012 it is operated by Porsche Engineering Group GmbH in Weissach, a wholly owned subsidiary of Porsche AG. Barsotti will lead the Nardò Technical Center together with Edmund Sander, technical managing director. He is the successor of Francesco Nobile who managed the testing center even before the acquisition of Porsche. Porsche Engineering thanks Nobile for his commitment in the context of Nardò’s integration into the Porsche group and wishes him all the best for the future.

The testing site in Nardò is a cornerstone for our future vehicle developments and our engineering services for customers from all over the world”, explains Michael Steiner, Member of the Executive Board - Research and Development of Porsche AG and Chairman of the Shareholders' Committee of Porsche Engineering.

With the new managing director, the Nardò Technical Center gains an expert of the automotive industry who provides long-term experience in management: Before his transition to Nardò, Barsotti was in charge of managing the powertrain department at the automotive supplier Magneti Marelli. Before that, he had been working in different positions in the areas of production and chassis in the automotive and aviation industry.

The Nardò Technical Center in southern Italy, which has been part of Porsche since 2012, offers both the company and its customers extensive facilities for testing and conducting trials. The 12.6 kilometer long circular track for high speed testing is unique in its kind. Furthermore, the proving ground offers possibilities for all testing stages on more than 20 testing tracks and services on a 700 hectar surface. Engineering services for external customers are a cornerstone of the Porsche identity and an important part of Porsche. However, the public knows little about this. Porsche Engineering operates according to a policy of strict confidentiality to ensure that product strategies and the brand identities of its customers are always protected with the greatest care.
