Porsche Engineering opens new R&D office in OstravaEngineering services provider extends its capacities in the Czech Republic
Stuttgart/Prague. Porsche Engineering Services, s.r.o., the Czech branch of the international engineering services provider Porsche Engineering Group GmbH, opens a new office in Ostrava. The new location officially starts operations on November 7, 2018 and extends and complements the capacities of Porsche Engineering Services, s.r.o, which is located in Prague since 2001.
With the new site in Ostrava, Porsche Engineering continuous to invest in the technically demanding field of the mobility of the future. The projects of the new office in Ostrava focus on automotive trends such as electromobility, autonomous driving and smart mobility. “The automotive industry faces many technological changes today,” says Dirk Lappe, Managing Director of Porsche Engineering Group GmbH and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Porsche Engineering Services, s.r.o. “At Porsche Engineering, we are in the center of these changes and want to further move the industry ahead with our new location in Ostrava and the highly-skilled engineers in the region.”
“Our new colleagues in Ostrava will work on a variety of exciting projects,” adds Doc. Miloš Polášek, Managing Director of Porsche Engineering s.r.o. ”There is for example a completely novel project relating to the high-power charging infrastructure for upcoming electric vehicles. Our developers work with the most advanced technologies like complex simulations, state-of-the-art digital development and prototyping.”
Currently, the office already has 21 employees. By 2020, the build-up plan foresees that 50 employees will work there. The R&D office is employing primarily software and hardware developers. As the new Porsche Engineering office is opened at a crossroad of the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland, the engineering services provider invites engineers from all three countries to join the company.
The proximity to several technical universities at home and abroad was also a reason to build a branch office directly in Ostrava. Cooperation with Universities has always been a cornerstone in the growth strategies of Porsche Engineering, both from the employment and the development point of view. In 1996, Porsche began its engineering presence in the Czech Republic with a cooperation with the Faculty of mechanical engineering of the Czech Technical University and these close ties have expanded and became closer over the years.
"There are a lot of talented people in the Moravian-Silesian Region who are not afraid of courageous visions,” says Ivo Vondrák, Governor of the Moravian-Silesian Region. “Our region is changing its image and companies that are engaged in the development or introduction of innovation in the industry have their place in our region. I am glad that Porsche Engineering will open its new branch in Ostrava. Thanks to this, there will be dozens of experts who will support the dynamic development of our region.”
