Driving innovation through Formula Student Class 1E
Supported by Nardò Technical Center as main sponsor, the Prometheus Formula Student project reached an important milestone with its participation in Formula SAE Class 1E, held in Varano de' Melegari (Parma, Italy) from 2 to 6 September. The event showcased innovation, engineering excellence and the value of collaboration between academia and industry.
Developed by students from the University of Salento, the fully electric prototype featured advanced solutions designed to maximize performance, safety and efficiency.
Key innovations included a complete aerodynamic package, lightweight carbon-fibre structures, regenerative braking technology, topology-optimised 3D-printed components, and an enhanced battery architecture.
The competition provided an opportunity to evaluate these engineering solutions in a demanding motorsport environment while giving students valuable hands-on experience in vehicle design, systems integration and performance engineering.
As main sponsor, NTC supported the project throughout its development, providing expertise, resources and industry know-how that helped transform an ambitious concept into a competitive Formula Student vehicle.
