Second edition of the training program "Mechatronics for Experimentation & Development in the Automotive Sector"

After the success of the first edition, the second one of the training program "Mechatronics for Experimentation & Development in the Automotive Sector" continues. The program was officially launched on June 17, 2024, at our Proving Ground, with the representatives from ITS Cuccovillo and the NTC team involved in the project.

This program is the result of an agreement between Nardò Technical Center (NTC) and the Istituto Tecnico Superiore (ITS) Cuccovillo in Bari and Brindisi. Based on the dual learning model, it integrates theoretical and practical training to facilitate the transition from education to the job market, providing young professionals with highly specialized skills applicable to the automotive sector.

A high-quality training program

An analysis of the current needs in the automotive sector led to the development of a highly qualified technical profile focused on experimentation and development. The program provides comprehensive training to prepare students for the role of "Senior technician for process and product innovation in mechanical engineering", with advanced specialization in the following areas:

  • Technical and instrumental diagnostics

  • Flashing the electronic systems

  • Maintenance of advanced automotive systems

The program lasts two years, combining classroom education with hands-on training. Students will have the opportunity to be mentored by engineers and expert technicians at NTC, becoming part of a high-level educational ecosystem designed to shape the future leaders of the automotive industry.

From classroom learning to hands-on workshop experience

The success of the dual education model is confirmed by those who completed the first edition and found real job opportunities. Among them are Danila and Gabriele, now members of the NTC workshop team.

Reflecting on her journey in mechatronics, Danila shares:

"When I enrolled in this program, I had never set foot in a mechanical workshop. However, I was very interested in the field and eager to learn. Thanks to the support of NTC technicians and engineers, I can now use diagnostic devices and software for vehicle maintenance, update ECUs (Electronic Control Units), resolve DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes), and much more. I am very happy with my decision and want to continue growing in this field."

The program not only develops technical skills but also strengthens soft skills. Danila adds:

"Effective communication, adaptability to new technologies, time management to meet customer needs and deadlines, and greater awareness of my potential—these are all skills I have developed. My training did not end with the dual education program; every day I keep learning."

Gabriele, on the other hand, advises:

"Make the most of the knowledge and work experience of company tutors during the internship. Work on problem-solving and teamwork, which are essential in research, testing, and development in the automotive industry. Keep an open and dynamic mindset. Lastly, learning English is crucial. In our company, it is a key asset, allowing us to interact with professionals from different fields."

"We are proud of this synergy, which allows us not only to contribute to the training of new professionals but also to engage with young talents."

"The automotive industry is undergoing a rapid transformation, with an increasing demand for expertise in autonomous driving and electric mobility. Through our collaboration with the Cuccovillo Institute, we can train specialists capable of tackling the technological challenges of the future."
