Frauscher x Porsche 790 Spectre Surpasses the 50-Knot Mark

The Frauscher x Porsche 790 Spectre electric sports boat, jointly developed by Porsche and Austrian boatbuilder Frauscher, has set a new speed record at the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge. With an average speed of 51.05 knots (94.5 km/h), the boat broke the symbolic 50-knot barrier for the first time and set a new competition record.

At the 13th Monaco Energy Boat Challenge, held from July 8 to 11, 2026, at the Yacht Club de Monaco, the Frauscher x Porsche 790 Spectre competed in the speed competition against numerous international teams and innovative electric boats. The challenge is to achieve the highest average speed over two runs on a historic 500-metre course along the Monaco coastline. With an average time of 38.2 seconds and a speed of 51.05 knots, the Spectre secured victory and surpassed the previous record of 49.84 knots, set by the Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom the year before.

Developed for Electric Propulsion from the Outset

While the Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom was based on an existing boat platform and adapted for electric propulsion, the new 790 Spectre was designed from the ground up as an electric boat. From the early stages of development, the hull, weight distribution, and battery concept were specifically engineered to meet the requirements of the electric powertrain. The result is a lighter, more compact sports boat offering even greater efficiency and performance.

Once again, the boat features drive technology from the all-electric Porsche Macan Turbo, integrated into a specially developed boat concept. Here, too, Porsche Engineering demonstrates how automotive expertise can be successfully transferred to other sectors.

Successful Partnership on the Water

The collaboration between Porsche and Frauscher began in 2022 with a shared vision of harnessing the potential of modern electric drive technologies for the maritime sector. By breaking the 50-knot barrier, the Frauscher x Porsche 790 Spectre sends a strong signal for the future of electric mobility on the water.
