The Evolution Era
2012 - 2025
The integration into Porsche Engineering’s global network marked a new chapter
Since its acquisition, Nardò Technical Center has evolved from a one-of-a-kind proving ground into an integrated hub for high-performance testing and development of intelligent and connected mobility solutions.
Fully integrated into Porsche Engineering’s global network, Nardò Technical Center has significantly expanded its capabilities and infrastructure to meet the changing demands of the automotive industry. Today, it is recognized as one of the world’s leading proving grounds, supporting over 90 global players and manufacturers thanks to its unique facilities and year-round testing conditions.

The renovation
Since 2015, the test center underwent major infrastructure renovations to support cutting-edge vehicle testing.
Alongside resurfacing key tracks, the proving ground was also enhanced with state-of-the-art safety systems and equipped with advanced charging infrastructure to accommodate the growing demands of electric vehicle development. While a former facility has been transformed into a dedicated battery testing site, an old workshop was demolished and renovated.

2015 - Low-speed Ring and Dynamic Platform B re-asphalt
The tracks were completely re-asphalted, enhancing surface quality and consistency to ensure continued testing precision.

2017 - Noise Track re-asphalting
The goal of the renovation was to restore the surface layer of the asphalt using high surface texture requirements for perfect adhesion of the surface.

2019 - High Speed Ring and Dynamic Platform A re-asphalting
The 12.6 km long High-Speed Ring was completely renovated and an innovative guardrail system was also installed, developed specifically by Porsche Engineering for NTC for high performance testing.
The operation also involved the complete renovation of the Dynamic Platform A, with a new dynamic surface area of 106,000 m2.

2021 - Upgrading safety standards
In 2021, safety across the proving ground was significantly enhanced through targeted advancements in emergency response and risk prevention.
Key upgrades included the installation of a Duo Gate System to enable faster rescue access between track sections, along with the implementation of protective barriers — known as “six packs and rubber belts” — in the main areas such as the Handling Track, Dynamic Platform A, and Off-roads.
2021 - Advancements in electric mobility infrastructure
In 2021, NTC transformed a former facility into a battery testing site. Besides that, an extensive charging infrastructure have been set up across the whole proving ground—thus further laying the ground for future electric vehicles.

2024 - The workshop B renovation
The project involved the demolition and reconstruction of one of the oldest buildings, giving rise to more functional and modern spaces designed to promote an efficient and comfortable work environment.
2025 - Battery Testing Site
Between 2021 and 2025, the facility was gradually transformed into a cutting-edge battery testing center — from a single cell to the entire battery — expanding NTC's capabilities and expertise in the rapidly growing field of e-mobility solutions.
The innovation
In 2022, Nardò Technical Center established Europe’s first 5G hybrid mobile private network (MPN).
The new 5G infrastructure powers a cutting-edge ecosystem for developing and testing future technology vehicles, enabling advanced technology applications.

The new division
In 2023, Nardò Technical Center opened new division in Lecce, focused on software development for intelligent and connected vehicles.
The new division is dedicated to developing and integrating advanced digital solutions for modern vehicles, facilitating the transition between development, virtual simulation, and physical testing within a comprehensive, all-in-one facility.

The records and tests
Nardò Technical Center has always been a hub for cutting-edge milestones, including multiple performance records and endurance tests that have shaped automotive engineering standards worldwide.
These feats reflect Nardò’s critical role in validating next-generation mobility under extreme conditions.
