Chasing100: when human endurance meets technical performance at Nardò

On August 26, five world-class ultrarunners took to NTC’s legendary ring track in pursuit of an extraordinary goal — running 100 kilometers in under six hours.

A track built for records

Since its founding in 1975, NTC has stood at the frontier of engineering innovation. The centerpiece of our 700-hectare facility is the 12.6-km high-speed ring, a perfectly banked circle designed to neutralize centrifugal force at extreme speeds. For decades, manufacturers have come here to validate super-cars, prototypes, and endurance vehicles in a controlled environment that blends precision, safety, and scale like nowhere else.

The same engineering that helped push vehicles to their limits has served a different purpose: providing ultra-runners with the world’s most consistent and predictable surface for their assault on the 100-km barrier, ensuring efficiency, safety and rhythm over every stride.

At NTC, history has long been written in the grip of tires. In August 2025, it was written in the steps of human feet.

NTC as a stage for human and machine innovation

By hosting Chasing100, NTC reaffirms its mission: to be the place where engineering innovation, whether mechanical or human, is tested at the very edge of possibility. This was made possible thanks to the controlled environment that eliminated external distractions, focusing the event purely on performance and a dedicated multi-disciplinary team provided continuous, tailored support throughout the entire project.

Chasing the future

Chasing100 was not just a race. It was a celebration of what happens when engineering precision meets human determination. While the athletes relied on the most advanced shoes to carry them forward, Nardò Technical Center reaffirms its role as a technology partner in high-performance endeavors.
