Stuttgart/Cluj-Napoca. With an official ceremony, Porsche Engineering Romania, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Porsche Engineering Group, and the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (TUCN) celebrated the start of its new Master of Science program “Advanced Techniques in Automotive Engineering” (ATAE) yesterday. The program is part of the cooperation between Porsche Engineering Romania and the “Automotive Engineering and Transportation” department of the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca. The aim of the two-year Master’s program is to further prepare 25 graduate students for working on research and development in the automotive industry.
”With this program, we are able to actively contribute to the educational environment of the Automotive Engineering industry in Cluj, with the help of our academic partner, the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca”, says Marius Mihailovici, General Manager Porsche Engineering Romania. ”The new Master of Science program is designed to train students for the real-life challenges of automotive engineering, by giving them access to the know-how and expertise of our engineers.”
The study contents of the ATAE Master of Science program, developed together with TUCN professors, focuses on conventional combustion vehicles, hybrid vehicles and battery powered, electric vehicles and includes classes such as “theory and automatization of the automotive components”, “thermal management”, “CAD/CAE tools in automotive engineering” or “advanced materials in automotive industry”. Applications and laboratories will be held at the Porsche Engineering Romania headquarters, as well as at the TUCN.
“The program constantly links theory to practice, including mandatory courses, practical laboratories and extracurricular activities”, adds Marius Mihailovici. ”Students will gain knowledge in the fields of electronics, vehicle architecture, control units, as well as function and software development and apply it during various testing and simulation phases, all supported by the Porsche Engineering specialists in Cluj or Germany.”
Admission to the ATAE Master of Science program consists of an interview with four professors from TUCN, while the dissertation topics are suggested and supported by Porsche Engineering Romania and Porsche Engineering Germany. The company will also fund ten scholarships for the top students.
